In the deep coniferous forests the crested Steller"s griffen takes the place of the Golden griffen of the lowland meadows, even to harassing the Greater gryphons and Wyverns whenever possible. This raucous monster is an accomplished and steathy thief, despite it's striking plumage, and is especially attracted to shiny objects (regardless of their value, or lack therof). This tendency to steal and hoard "treasures" has made the Stellar's griffen a popular target of gem hunting adventuers. Despite increasing pressure from monster hunters, this bright and noisy griffen has managed to increase it's range in recent years, perhaps due to the dramatic decrease in the dragon populations.
